Your Child's Online Safety is Important!

Parents need to be aware of the dangers present with the use of online tools, apps, YouTube and more. Two highly recommended resources for parents and teachers are Commonsensemedia.org and Nationalonlinesafety.com (which is linked above).

Make Sure You Are Connected

It will be more important than ever for Parents to be connected to our school and their child's class on Class Dojo. This will be our main platform for sending information out over the coming weeks. If you are a parent and have not joined, please call the school immediately to get information. If you are already connected, make sure to either check it daily or allow push notifications so you are not left out of the loop!

School Wide Read Begins!

Our kickoff may look a little different this year, but we aren't going to let the Coronavirus rain on our parade when it comes to our 6th annual School Wide Reading Event! Meet Appleblossom the Possum, the star of our new reading adventure. She is cute, she is funny, she is brave, and she is going on an adventure that you won't want to miss! We have mailed books to every student, along with a page detailing the suggested reading schedule and talking points for the first 4 chapters. Additional updates will be sent through School Dojo.

Plugged-in Parents

Parents are invited to join Barbara Huth, Education Program Manager with Common Sense Media to explore how kids and teens are using media, managing screen time, getting a cell phone, cyberbullying, social media and more. Backed by the latest research and full of practical tips, you will leave with the tools you need to keep kids safe and help them take ownership of their digital lives.

It All Adds Up!

Did you know studies show that children who read 1,000,000 words a year are in the top two percent of reading achievement? And that Children learn 4,000 to 12,000 words per year through reading? Look at the other 5 facts from this article. To see more detail in the research behind the facts, use the hyper-link within the fact listed.
