Visitors and Volunteers
Visitors and Volunteers
The Wilkes County Board of Education values the support of school volunteers, including families, community members, and local businesses, recognizing their contributions to student success and school improvement.
Volunteers serve without compensation and provide support in various roles to enhance learning. All volunteers must be professional and dependable. Those working directly with students (e.g., field trips, extracurriculars, athletics) must submit an application and pass a criminal background check.
Volunteer Levels: Beginning July 1, 2025, all previous volunteers must reapply due to a new application system.
- Level 1 Volunteer: No direct, unsupervised student contact (e.g., copying, organizing materials). No background check required.
- Level 2 Volunteer: Direct, unsupervised contact with students (e.g., chaperones). Background check required.
Approval is not guaranteed.

Lunch Visits
Parents, guardians, and family members are welcome to join their students for lunch as a special treat. Please arrive five minutes early to allow time for check-in. Guests and students will sit at a separate table from the class. Visitors may purchase a school lunch (see cafeteria guidelines for pricing) or bring lunch from home.
Please avoid bringing food from restaurants or outside businesses, and review the Cafeteria Guidelines for information on allowable items.
